The acouStac® is a motorized variable acoustics banner.

The acouStac® is a motorized variable acoustics banner. When acouStacs® are deployed in an otherwise reverberant room, the acoustical character of the space changes. We offer the acouStac® as a tool for design professionals to address spaces that have multiple acoustic requirements.

Banner

The acouStac® Banner consists of two parallel fabric Panels made up of individual horizontal Segments held together by Stackers. The stackers separate the two fabric panels at a constant dimension (depth) over the full height and width of the banner. The paired fabric panels shall be available with inner chambers of 3” or 6” wide formed by the stackers and 6”, 11”, 15” or 24” tall formed by the fabric segments. The panels are made of either 24oz IFR Velour or FR Wool Serge. The panels are flat with 0% fullness.

The individual fabric segments are removable to allow cleaning and repair without removing the entire banner.

The acouStac® banner is certified by an independent laboratory insuring that the banner has been tested in accordance with the “Sound Absorption Coefficient by Reverberation Room Method” (ASTM C423-07).

Motorized Line Shaft Hoist System

The acouStac® banner is retracted and deployed via a motorized lineshaft hoist. The hoist shall consist of a gearmotor and a full length drive shaft supported by self aligning flange blocks.

The acouStac® banner retracts by means of lifting bands. The lifting bands attach to drums positioned along the width of the banner and connect to the lifting plate at the bottom of the banner. The lifting bands are stainless steel with a design factor of no less than 8:1.

A heavy duty aluminum frame with top and side panels supports the hoist motor, the drive shaft, drums and the banner. The frame is constructed in a manner that allows easy access to the motor for servicing. Access to the banner is also available should the entire banner require removal.

The acouStac® Hoist Motor is a 480 / 208v 3 phase gearmotor. The gearmotor capacity includes a 1.25 safety factor. The system is capable of fixed speeds of up to 20/fpm. Four position limit switches include both up and down normal travel and over travel protection. The gearmotor is equipped with a fail-safe brake, rated for 200% of the hoist capacity that is engaged unless the controller disengages it for raising or lowering the load. The motorized lineshaft hoist is sized to accommodate the specified banner.

The acouStac® Motor Starter Cabinet may be mounted on the hoist frame or wall mounted in a remote location.

acouStac® Control Systems
The acouStac® control system is available with the following options:

Push Button Up/Down Control of a Single Channel.

Push Button Up/Down Control of Multiple Channels ( up to 6 channels ).

Push Button 3-position Control – Up/Down/Intermediate of Single or Multiple Channels (up to 6).

Touchscreen Control with Multiple Channels, Multiple Presets, and Positioning Feedback.

An individual channel controls one or more acouStacs® simultaneously. The number of acouStacs® that may be assigned to a channel is determined by available building power and local safety protocol.

Finishes

Frame and stackers are mill finish aluminum.

Frame enclosure panels are grey.

Stainless steel bands are self-colored.

Fabric colors may be custom or selected from a standard color chart.

acouStac® options include:
Power & Controls

Variable speeds of up to 180/fpm.
